Barbados, Mia Mottley & The Power of Change.

September 7, 2018

Just returned from an amazing vacation in Barbados. In addition to the beautiful beaches, the lush and varied flora of the island and having some of the best meals of my life,  what I enjoyed most was getting to know the Bajan people. Mia Mottley, the new Prime Minister of Barbados made history as the first woman to be elected to this office and she won it by a landslide with 74.2% of the vote. In speaking with some of the people of Barbados  I learned that men and women alike have great confidence in Prime Minister Mottley's ability to clean up the mess made by the former corrupt administration and in government as well as improve the economy. Healthcare is free, education is free and it makes a huge difference in the quality of people's lives. Prime Minister Mottley implemented an additional tourism tax making it an expensive trip for me BUT, the additional money is going to help improve their economy. What was troubling to see... the vast difference between the wealthy and working class now happening everywhere.  I want universal healthcare and free education for our people in America and I want a leader to clean up the corruption that is running rampant in our government. Why can't we have free healthcare and education? Why can't we clean up the corruption in politics? We can. Any politician who says we can't is not the type of  leader we need right now. I'm not saying this will be easy but we know that where there is a will there is a way.

Vote, Vote, Vote...politicians out of office who don't place your interests first before party or president. Trump works for himself and his wealthy cronies. Don't listen to what he says...he lies...pay attention to what he does. The proof is in the actions he takes not in his words.

Let your voice be heard. Vote! If you do, you will be helping to create a better tomorrow for all of us.
